Local agencies offer exams, counseling to victims
To report suspected cases of child abuse, call the following telephone hot lines:
Multnomah County, all hours, 503-731-3100;
Clackamas County, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 503-657-2112;
Washington County, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 503-648-8951; and
during off-hours in Washington and Clackamas counties, 503-731-3100.
You can also report suspected cases of child abuse to the Family Services Division of the Portland Police Bureau, 503-988-5249.
Several local agencies provide counseling and other services for suspected and actual victims of childhood sexual abuse. They include:
• Child Abuse Response and Evaluation Service Northwest offers physical examinations and interviews done in a comfortable atmosphere to help the child feel relaxed and unafraid. It also provides medical and psychological treatment in addition to follow-up services for both the victims and their families. The clinic is operated by Kaiser Permanente, Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center and Oregon Health & Sciences University's Doernbecher Hospital.

• The Northeast Catholic Counseling Center is a state-certified counseling center that offers confidential services to anyone. Call 503-253-0964 during normal business hours for information.
