Six wounded in North Portland shooting
Report: Victims may have been at high school football game
Six young men were shot in North Portland late Friday.
One was Jefferson High School football player BJ Henderson, a junior linebacker for the Democrats. He had played in the game held earlier in the evening.
Fox 12 reported that all of the victims may be teenagers who were at the game. All of them, including Henderson, were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The shooting happened at about 11:20 p.m. Police officers from the North Precinct and the Gang Enforcement Team members responded to reports of gunshots fired in the area of North Jessup Street and Albina Avenue.
When the officers arrived, they found six young men who had been shot. Portland Fire and Rescue paramedics and American Medical Response personnel were called to provide aid.
Witnesses told police that the suspects fled on foot. No other suspect information was released.
Police believe the shootings may have been gang-related.
