Aurelie Sheehan presents her critically acclaimed fiction collection, 'Jack Kerouac Is Pregnant: Stories.' Sheehan has received many honors for her poetry and prose, including a Pushcart Prize, a Camargo Fellowship and the Jack Kerouac Literary Award. Sheehan appears at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Reed College psychology building's auditorium, 3203 S.E. Woodstock Blvd.

Dune sayer

Brian Herbert, son of Frank Herbert, author of the original 'Dune' series, enlisted the help of science fiction writer Kevin Anderson to write a prequel trilogy to the beloved saga. The two attend a discussion and book signing for 'Dune: The Bulterian Jihad' at noon Friday, Sept. 20, at Looking Glass Bookstore, 318 S.W. Taylor St.
