FILM / 'The Miles Davis Story'

Legendary trumpeter Miles Davis died in 1991 at age 65. To mark what would have been his 75th birthday, British television's Channel 4 commissioned an extensive documentary. Rare interviews with friends, family members and ex-lovers are interspersed with performance footage for insight into a career shaped by illness, drug addiction and extraordinary talent.

White Bird hosts Montreal's 10-member dance troupe, led by award-winning choreographer and former soloist Marie Chouinard. The troupe will perform two works: 'Le Cri du Monde,' an intense dervish of bodies and movement, and the more joyful '24 Preludes by Chopin,' inspired by Chopin's Opus 28.

Portland artist M.K Guth recently received her master's degree in fine arts from New York University and returns to her hometown to present her latest work in digital video and photography. 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' is a three-minute multiframe video meditation on the idea of heroes. 'Weekend Getaway' imagines Batman and Batgirl as lonely singles trying to meet but stuck in their digital boxes.
