Oregon State Police will continue their investigation into the drowning death of a Forest Grove man.

Oregon State Police and the State Medical Examiner's Office will continue their investigation this week into the reported drowning death of a Forest Grove man Sunday evening at Collins Beach on Sauvie Island.

According to OSP Trooper Billy Bush, on Sept. 4 at approximately 8 p.m., OSP and Columbia County deputies responded to a possible drowning on the northern end of Collins Beach. On arrival, several people were attempting to resuscitate an adult male.

Bush and deputies took over and continued performing CPR until medical personnel arrived about 20 minutes later, but were unable to revive the man, identified as Michael L. Walker, 45, of Forest Grove, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Walker reportedly was at Collins Beach when he tried to swim out to his boat and was later seen by a friend motionless in the water. He was brought back to the beach where revival attempts were unsuccessful.

The medical examiner's office will conduct toxicology tests, but results won't be available for a few weeks.
