McDougall to board

Duane McDougall, former president and chief executive officer of Willamette Industries Inc., has been elected to the board of directors of West Coast Bancorp.

McDougall also serves on the boards of InFocus Corp., Cascade Corp. and the Oregon State University Foundation.

chooses new members

The Oregon Health & Science University Foundation board of trustees has elected lawyer Walter Grebe, restaurateur Bill McCormick, community leader and retired nurse Evona Brim, and Willamette University President M. Lee Pelton to the board.

Retired bank executive John Eskildsen has been re-elected to the board, along with S.S. Johnson Foundation director Elizabeth Johnson, a Democratic state representative from Scappoose.

Wells Fargo Bank executive Risa Olsen is the new president of the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation board of directors.

Edward Hepp Jr., president of Hepp Steel Resources, is immediate past president; Wakefield Mack, U.S. Trust vice president, is executive vice president; Xandra McKeown of West Coast Bank is vice president of finance; community leader Christina Blackwell is secretary; and community leader Mary Heubner is member at large.

Elected to the board were Kelly Johnson of the investment firm RBD Dain Rauscher, Nike executive Michael Doherty and KWJJ (99.5 FM) executive Ronald Carter. Returning to the board are Allyn Ford, president and chief executive officer of Roseburg Forest Products, and Junki Yoshida, chairman and CEO of Yoshida Group.

The Portland Development Commission's former deputy executive director has joined Providence Health System to lead its diversity program.

Baruti Artharee is in charge of ensuring diversity throughout the organization.

Artharee also is the chairman of the Urban League of Portland.

Power cooperative hires

planning manager

Wholesale electric power cooperative PNGC Power has hired Tom Haymaker as power planning manager.

Haymaker manages energy forecasting, market analyses, contracts and energy trading in the forward wholesale power markets. He previously worked for Duke Energy as a power marketing and operations manager.

OMSI science director

takes Marylhurst post

Marylhurst University has named Jan Dabrowski chairman of its science and mathematics department.

Dabrowski has taught at Marylhurst for 15 years and has worked at numerous science education centers and planetariums.

He formerly was science director at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Menashe named head

of bench/bar commission

Albert Menashe, managing partner at Gevurtz Menashe Larson & Howe PC, has been appointed chairman of Oregon's Joint Bench/Bar Commission on Professionalism.

The commission promotes principles of lawyerly professionalism, including civility and the elimination of discrimination in the judicial system.

Hedberg to lead local

Perkins Coie office

Steve Hedberg, national chairman of Perkins Coie LLP's Commercial Transactions Practice Group, has been promoted to managing partner of the firm's Portland office.

Hedberg has served on several companywide committees; his practice includes insolvency and bankruptcy, workouts, creditors' rights and troubled mergers and acquisitions.

He succeeds Roy Tucker as managing partner.

Dianne Dailey has been elected president of Bullivant Houser Bailey PC. She succeeds James Hibbard.

Dailey will continue her practice in complex litigation during her three-year term as president.

Koehler joins Nike

as regional counselor

Tonkon Torp LLP lawyer Peter Koehler Jr. is joining client firm Nike as its regional counsel for the United States and the Americas.

Koehler has been at Tonkon Torp since 1987 and served four years as managing partner.

Worldwide operations

expert joins Tektronix

Tektronix Inc. has hired worldwide operations veteran Amad Doratotaj as vice president of worldwide manufacturing.

Doratotaj most recently was vice president of worldwide operations and customer service for Harmonic Inc.

At Tektronix, he'll oversee worldwide manufacturing operations, supply chain management and manufacturing engineering.
