If the regular season has taught us anything, it's not to rule out any of the 16 teams in the state tournament.
Even last year's tourney, which featured Grants Pass' upset of Jefferson in the first round and sixth-seeded Tigard's title run, is a reminder of the parity in boys play these days Ñ a stark contrast to the girls' tournament, where Oregon City rules.
No. 1 Redmond, No. 2 Lincoln, No. 3 Jesuit and No. 4 Jefferson are in different quarters of the boys' bracket, so if those four teams meet, it will be in the semifinals. Redmond faces the toughest route there because it opens with No. 8 Sunset on Wednesday.
Lincoln gets a big edge because of the excitement surrounding its city championship and the crowd it's likely to bring, making Memorial Coliseum a 'home' court.
How about Lincoln playing Jesuit for the title Saturday night?
