'Cute' and 'happy' often are frowned-upon terms in serious art circles.
Well, the paintings of Pasadena, Calif.-based artist Seonna Hong are unabashedly cute and happy. They aren't challenging or dreary or a drag, either. A pleasant shock, to be sure.
The burning issues these adorable paintings are concerned with? Jumping on the bed, making cookies and sliding down the banister.
Hong's work is hanging at Gallery Bink, a proud outpost of lowbrow art. Tim Biskup and Portland's own gonzo illustrator, Bwana Spoons, also show their work.
Through May 2 at Gallery Bink, 1416 E. Burnside St.; 503-233-8866.
