Two men arrested in hotel room assault on girls

Portland police are investigating the sexual assault of two girls - ages 15 and 17 - Sunday in a downtown hotel room.
Two men were arrested in the incident. Police said 22-year-old Timothy Hartbeck was held on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse. Stephan Bardos, 27, was being held on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
Both men were lodged in the Multnomah County Jail.
Police said they learned at about 4 a.m. Sept. 4 that the two girls were at a local hospital reporting the assault, which they said happened at the Courtyard Marriott hotel on Southwest Fifth Avenue and Oak Street.
The victims claim to have been sexually assaulted by several men in a hotel room. Some of the men were members of the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash.
