The Boise neighborhood welcomes the city in style. Thursday night is an art and performance fair. There's a talent show Friday night and, weather permitting, an outdoor screening of local filmmakers' work. Saturday's all-day street fair includes a 'best ribs' contest and a giant garage sale.

DANCE / The Modern Dance Lab

7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, and Friday,May 16, Jefferson High School Auditorium

Jefferson High School boasts more than one highly skilled, high-energy dance troupe. The Modern Dance Lab performs a range of pieces from a traditional African courtship dance accompanied by live drumming to an elegant blues number and funky hip-hop. Eric Skinner of BodyVox is a guest choreographer.

Portland's Les Autres, a stylish brother-sister duo steeped in French pop, are joined by Sara Jaffe of Erase Errata and Cynthia Nelson of Retsin. Jaffe and Nelson each debut solo projects, with Nelson playing under the moniker Sophie Drinker.

Retread Threads celebrates its first decade with a week of fun and frivolity. The store's windows facing West Burnside Street will have a different live display every day, from the actual making of short film to makeovers and models playing chess.
