Portland loves Labs (and dachshunds, too)

There are 38,700 licensed dogs in Multnomah County. That's about 25 percent of the total dog population, says Multnomah County Animal Control Director Mike Oswald, and on par with the national average.
The most popular licensed breeds in the county:
1. Labrador retriever (7,036licensed)
2. German shepherd (3,021)
3. Golden retriever (1,512)
4. Rottweiler (1,232)
5. Australian shepherd (1,224)
6. Cocker spaniel (1,200)
7. Dachshund (1,166)
