Portland author Anthony Swofford, who teaches at Lewis & Clark College, hit pay dirt in the literary world with 'Jarhead,' his highly regarded memoir of life as a Marine in the Persian Gulf War. George Stephanopoulos wrote of Swofford in Details, 'That sniper sure can write.'

Fans of 'Ulysses' can get their Joyce on at Borders' Bloomsday Literature in Performance reading. In honor of Bloomsday on June 16 the date on which James Joyce's 'Ulysses' takes place actress Rebecca J. Becker reads the famous Molly Bloom soliloquy.
