In April, Evan Dando released 'Baby, I'm Bored,' his solo debut and first album since the last Lemonheads record seven years ago. His surfer-boy looks and laid-back approach still seem to have their magic. The album was released earlier in the United Kingdom and received excellent reviews in top music rags. Dando's current backing band includes Juliana Hatfield, Chris Brokaw and George Berz.

Portland Taiko presents a roundup of contemporary and traditional dance, music and theater. The Korean drumming group Osanori will open each evening. Acclaimed dancer Minh Tran collaborates with Persian lutist Dariush Dolat-shahi. Additional performers include poet Lawson Inada, jazz vocalist Lyndee Mah and puppeteers from the Dragon Art Studio.

Pizza Schmizza celebrates the opening of its new Hawthorne location and the dog days of summer in one shebang. Dog owners can bring by their pooches for a three-minute prance in front of a panel of judges all day long. At 5 p.m. winners of the 'Hot Dog' and 'Ugly but Cute Dog' titles will be announced. All restaurant proceeds from the day benefit the Oregon Humane Society.
