The Portland Classical Chinese Garden is a topiary and aesthetic oasis amid the harsh contours of the cityscape. Its Tuesdays by Twilight concert series offers an opportunity to hear diverse music in the garden's soothing atmosphere. This week features local jazz singer Mia Nicholson joined by musicians Steve Christofferson, Ron Steen, Dave Captein and David Evans.

Portland photographer Daniel deMoulin stumbled upon art photography when he was 12 years old. He sneaked out with his father's camera and unknowingly took pictures with a broken shutter. The resulting images inspired deMoulin to delve deeper into the craft, and he has traveled around the world capturing images. An artist's reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 11.

Seven local residents who moonlight as lounge singers are coming together to benefit the American Cancer Society. The one-night-only revue features Renee Cleland, a former Miss Oregon; Doug Zimmerman, a producer for Fox News; and event producer Laurie Campbell-Leslie, among others.
