É The Portland Winter Hawks have a new winger, 19-year-old Robin Big Snake, who is half-Cree and half-Blackfoot. His arrival finalizes a trade made with the Moose Jaw Warriors during the Bantam draft in May. É The U.S. basketball team coached by the University of Oregon's Ernie Kent was eliminated with a 2-1 record in the Junior World Championships in Greece after losing 106-85 to Australia.

Achievers: The (Joey) Harrington Family Foundation donated $30,375 Wednesday to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Portland. The money was raised at a June 26 concert at the Crystal Ballroom sponsored by Harrington, who is the Detroit Lions' quarterback, and others. É Boxers Molly McConnell, 145 pounds, of Portland and 16-year-old Brooke Topps, 132, of Beaverton took silver medals in the U.S. nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. É The Oregon Sports Hall of Fame will induct Clive Charles, Bill Enyart, A.C. Green, Peter Jacobsen, Teri Mariani and Michael Marx on Aug. 16 at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.
