Sept. 11, 2001 Memorial Service - 8:30 a.m., Gresham Heroes Memorial at Main City Park, Powell Boulevard and Roberts Avenue. Sponsored by the Gresham Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 180, the national anthem will be performed and representatives from police, fire and government will speak.

Corbett Yard Sale - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Springdale School, 32405 E. Historic Columbia River Highway. Proceeds will benefit Corbett schoolchildren attending a full week of Outdoor School.

Adult Group Bike Ride - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Main City Park, 219 S. Main Ave. This series of free, moderately paced, adult group bicycle rides will explore the area between Gresham, Troutdale and the Sandy River as well as East Portland. Bike rides range from 15 to 25 miles. The group will travel along at around 13-15 mph and stop for coffee, bakery sweets or ice cream somewhere along the route. Riders are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early; the group leaves at 10 a.m. sharp. For more information, call Bud Rice at 503-667-0683.

Service of Remembrance for Sept. 11, 2001 - 1 p.m., Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. A service of remembrance in memory of Sept. 11, 2001, will feature the Gresham police and fire departments, American Legion Post 1, the city of Gresham and vocalist Marydith Grant. A reception will follow.

Blue Star Memorial Marker Dedication - 2 p.m., Portland Fire Training/Safety Center, 4800 N.E. 122nd Ave., Portland. The Portland Fire Bureau and National Garden Clubs are dedicating a Blue Star Memorial Marker, which honors service men and women.

Vegetarian Cooking Class - 2 to 4 p.m., Seventh-day Adventist Church, Fellowship Hall, 223 S.E. Cleveland Ave. Join in for an afternoon of preparing healthy, tasty meals, recipe sharing, shopping help, cooking tips and techniques. This is an ongoing class held every second Sunday of the month.
