For the second weekend in a row, Pacific finished up with a 3-1 record in a tournament as the Boxers split their final two games at the Cal Lutheran Posada Royale Tournament, held last weekend in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

In Pacific's Saturday opener, the Boxers watched Claremont-Mudd-Scripps come back from two sets down to rally and win in five sets, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-13, 15-11. The Boxers rebounded in their final match, using four sets to beat East Texas Baptist 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-16.

With the win over East Texas Baptist, Pacific improved to 6-3 overall on the season, matching the program's best start since 2007, when the Boxers also started 6-3 en route to an eventual 14-9 finish.

Pacific opened the tournament with a pair of five-set wins on Friday. The Boxers rebounded from an early deficit to beat Whittier, 25-23, 16-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-10. Pacific was in the opposite position in their second match, going up two sets before Pomona-Pitzer took the next two. The Boxers escaped a close fifth set to win 25-19, 26-24, 25-27, 15-25, 15-13.

The strong showing in California came on the heels of three wins at the Oneonta Invitational, held last weekend in Oneonta, N.Y.

The Boxers rode the exceptional play of veterans Alexa Block and Kelsy Takashima to a pair of season-opening victories on Sept. 9 against Oneonta State and Mt. St. Mary's. Pacific then split its final two games against Millikin and St. Joseph's on Sept. 10.

Pacific opens Northwest Conference play this weekend with a road trip to Whitman on Friday and Whitworth on Saturday.
