by: DAVID F. ASHTON - They're not the Scooby Doo characters come to life - although Dylan, Susan, Gabrie, and Paul Alban do bear a striking resemblance to the cartoon clan.To get neighbors “in the spirit”, the Mt. Scott Community Center, S.E. 72nd at Harold Street, hosted a Hallowe’en Carnival on the evening of Friday night, October 26th.

No small affair, this: The entire Center – including the pool – was dedicated to the event, and included two indoor bounce houses, an indoor play park, a haunted house, bingo for adults and older kids – and a dozen or more games for children.

“We feel it’s important for this community to give them a healthy and safe environment in our neighborhood,” Mt. Scott Community Center Recreation Coordinator Cortney Hoffman told THE BEE.

With an admission charge of only $3 (or else some canned food items), the carnival provided an entire evening of affordable family fun, Hoffman said.

“The best part for me is seeing all the kids having so much fun,” Hoffman grinned. “And, I also like seeing many of our guests dressing up in a theme – like the ‘Scooby Doo family’ who just came in.”

By the evening’s end, more than 500 folks had attended this year’s festival.
