Welches resident Jeffery Lynn Jewell died Thursday, Sept. 1. He was 60.
A celebration of his life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Sandy Senior Center, 38348 Pioneer Blvd.
Jeff was born Feb. 2, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to John and Vera (Ruetz) Jewell. The family moved to California, where Jeff was raised and educated. He served with the Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1971. Jeff moved to Virginia, where he married Mary Quarles. They divorced nine years later.
In 1990, Jeff moved to Gladstone to be closer to his mother. He worked in construction as a contractor and heavy equipment operator until 2001.
On Aug. 31, 1996, Jeff married Erolyn Locke in Gladstone. They operated Pockwockie Crossing, an exotic animal rescue started in 1991.
Survivors include his wife; mother, Vera McKenna of Gladstone; brother, Rand Jewell of Atlanta; sisters, Madeleine Regner of Damascus and Kate Lawler of Helena, Mont.; sons, Robbie Jewell of Hampton, Va., and Jay Jewell of England; and four grandchildren.
