Burgalry, arson and possible hate crime suspected at restaurant
Police and Fire Bureau investigators are looking into a burglary, arson and possible hate crime at a Northeast Portland restaurant.
At 5;47 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, a police officer smelled smoke and discovered a fire at Mack & Dub's Excellent Chicken & Waffles restaurant at 3601 Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard .
Firefighters from Portland Fire & Rescue responded and put out the fire
According to police, the preliminary investigation shows that the business was burglarized and that someone set a fire. The responding officer also discovered graffiti that could be part of a hate crime.
Arson investigators from the Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue are in the early stages of the investigation and do not have any suspect information at this time.
