Firefighters extinguish blaze that destroyed home
An investigation continues into the cause of a Tuesday afternoon fire that destroyed a Beaverton home.
At 12:19 p.m. Tuesday, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters from Station 67 responded to the report of a home ablaze in the 13000 block of Southwest Berthold Street.
The crew arrived within minutes and began to fight the fire from outside.
The single-story house's occupants had already evacuated.
"Though firefighters knocked down the fire within 12 minutes, the small home was destroyed," said Cassandra Ulven, fire district spokeswoman. "It is unclear how the fire started or whether the home had working smoke alarms."
Though there appeared to be no initial injuries, a woman who lives in the home was transported by Metro West to a nearby hospital for treatment once the fire was extinguished.
