Troutdale police arrested Ty Edwin Ege, 36, of Portland on Sunday morning, Sept. 18, for allegedly stealing more than $25,000 worth of metal from a Troutdale business in the 900 block of Northwest Marine Drive.
Police were dispatched to the business Wednesday, Sept. 7, to investigate several thefts that were caught on surveillance video. Police were able to get a good description of the suspect vehicle and trailer from the surveillance video and disseminated it to all patrol officers.
A patrol officer spotted the suspect vehicle and trailer driving eastbound on Marine Drive at 5:41 a.m. Sunday. The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, Ege.
Ege reportedly acknowledged the prior thefts and told officers that he sold the metal to Portland business Metro Metals Northwest and the Vancouver, Wash., business Golden Metal Recycling, receiving hundreds of dollars.
Ege was lodged at Multnomah County Detention Center for aggravated theft I and for a detention warrant as he is on probation for burglary I.
