Clackamas County residents with a gross income of less than $1,844 per month for a single individual or $2, 412 per month for a couple, are eligible to receive assistance to help offset heating and utility bills.

Eligibility is based on the total gross household income received by all adults living in the home at the time of application. If you feel that you qualify, call 503-650-5640. Listen carefully to the message and select the prompt that best meets your need for assistance.

Friday, Dec. 21 — Obtain a free blood pressure check in the Cedar room between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Walk-ins welcome, donations accepted. In Stitches, the center’s quilting group, will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Birch room. The group will work cooperatively on various quilting projects. Walk-ins welcome.

Join us for our special holiday luncheon served by Marge and Friends. Lunch includes tossed salad, prime rib, baked potatoes, baby carrots, baked croissants and cheesecake for dessert. Suggested donation for those 60 and over is $4; $5 for those under 60. Lunch is served promptly at noon. Reservations required. Call 503-635-3758 for availability. The MAC user group meets from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Alder room.

Monday, Dec. 24 — The computer user group meeting is canceled during the holiday season. Meetings will resume Jan. 7. Contact the adult community center for more information. There will be no congregate meals served today, however home delivered meals will continue as usual and will be delivered by a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Monday’s lunch is broccoli slaw, beef pot roast, roasted potatoes, steamed carrots and rosemary rolls and butterscotch pudding for dessert. The center closes at noon today due to Christmas Eve. The center will open Dec. 26.

Tuesday Dec. 25 — The adult center is closed today in observance of Christmas. The center staff wishes everyone safe and happy holidays.

Wednesday, Dec. 26 — Come and join us for this month’s December birthday lunch! Enjoy spinach salad, pork with tomatoes and mushrooms, mashed potatoes, green beans, wheat rolls and birthday cake for dessert. Lunch will be served by City Slickers and suggested donation for those 60 and over is $4; $5 for those under 60. Seating begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch is served promptly at noon. The weekly supervised computer lab runs from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Alder room. Everyone is welcome. Weekly current events with the Senior Studies Institute (SSI) meets at the West End Building from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is an annual membership to SSI for $30; you may attend two sessions before you must join. Engage with others on various topics and current events.

Experienced pinochle players meet from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Willow room. Call in advance to let us know you are coming so the pinochle group can coordinate play. American mah jongg meet and play from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in the Birch room. This group is for experienced players.

Thursday, Dec. 27 — Creative Hands meets in the Dogwood room from 9:30 a.m. to noon to work on handicraft projects benefiting various charities in the community. New participants always welcome. Join us for a game of Scrabble from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Willow room. Games are led by Ruth Hamilton, drop-ins always welcome.

The Lake Oswego Respite Program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Acorn room. The program costs $30 per participant each day, and is held Tuesdays and Thursdays. Contact Social Services Supervisor Berta Derman at 503-635-3758 to register for the program.
