Randall Trust donation helps build Legacy childrens hospital
New facility will be named for West Coast real estate business leader
The Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Northeast Portland is being renamed Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel after a $10 million gift to the hospital from the Robert D. and Marcia H. Randall Charitable Trust was announced Wednesday.
Legacy spokeswoman Maegan Vidal says the gift will be used to help fund construction of a new, nine-story facility dedicated to children's health on the Northeast Portland campus. The new children's hospital will cost $245 million to construct and furnish. It is expected to be completed in February 2012.
The gift is the largest ever given to Legacy, and the largest ever to a children's hospital in Oregon and Southwest Washington, according to Vidal.
Robert and Marcia Randall were the founders of the Randall Group, a Portland real estate company that has built and acquired more than 30,000 West Coast apartment units and numerous commercial projects.
