Happy Valley mourns loss of Steve Jones
- Clackamas Review - News
The Happy Valley community has lost a great friend and community volunteer. Steve Jones, 44, of Happy Valley, died unexpectedly on Sept. 14.
His accomplishments were as diverse as the man. After more than 20 years in banking and finance, his entrepreneurial skills were marked in recent years with the opening of the Friends Salon in the Happy Valley Town Center, and his venture into customized shirts and sportswear under the Niiice label.
An enthusiastic outdoorsman, his boating, golfing, NASCAR and fishing and hunting leisure-time activities may have led him to his most recent partnership venture, NWI, a business operation for protective powder coating on all things, including boat trailers.
Many organizations benefited from the limitless efforts he shared with his community. Jones was active with the Willamette Youth Soccer Association league, serving on its board.
He served on the City of Happy Valley's Traffic and Public Safety Committee as a citizen who cared deeply about the safety and livability of his community. He was also active within the Happy Valley Business Alliance. He was an Eagle Scout and went out for track and field in high school.
Family and friends were the hub of his life, and his active affiliation as a volunteer at Abundant Life Church may be his biggest legacy. Steve reached out to all with his faith and service in the church's children's ministry, safety, student ministries and mission trips. He had a servant's heart.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Chris; daughters Amanda and Hannah; and new son-in-law, Nick. He was predeceased by son, Ryan.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m., at Abundant Life Church, 17241 S.E. Hemrich Road, Damascus. An account has been set up for his family at West Coast Bank, Happy Valley, under Steve Jones.
