County libraries begin loaning books on Kindle

Multnomah County Library users may now borrow electronic books for their Kindles, smart phones and computers that run the Kindle app.

More than 10,000 digital books are available.

To borrow a book, a patron needs a library card and an Amazon account.

'This long-anticipated service from Amazon is a welcome addition to public libraries across the country, and certainly for the patrons of Multnomah County Library,' said Director of Libraries Vailey Oehlke. 'Library lovers who have adopted reading devices have long been asking for this service. Now, library patrons have yet another way to take the library and its books with them wherever they go.'
