Hillsdale Bike Coalition commissions mural
HILLSDALE - The plaza at the Hillsdale Shopping Center now has some added eye-catching appeal.
Hillsdale volunteer Jen Evans was commissioned by the Hillsdale Bike Coalition to paint the mural that is now on display, a clear statement to visitors that 'Hillsdale bikes.'
The coalition, which helped with the original construction of the plaza - nestled between Food Front Cooperative Grocery and Baker and Spice Bakery - sponsored the mural and organized its set up.
Evans said it's the first mural she's painted and that, with the help of a friend, she spent several days blocking out, painting and sealing her work.
The mural will remain in place for one year, and, in the future, the coalition will hold a contest to replace it on an annual basis. 'It's great we're finally having art in Hillsdale,' Evans said.
