Lady Braves get several excellent performances at non-league meets at North Marion, Molalla
Coming off an eighth-place finish at last year's Class 4A state meet, the Banks girls cross country team has looked strong again in 2011, with three returning runners leading a number of impressive early-season performances at invitational meets.
Senior Amanda Reaser ran a season-best time of 21 minutes, 41 seconds to finish third overall at the North Marion Invite last Thursday, and sister Sara Reaser was eight seconds behind in seventh place (21:49). Ariana Daskalakis also cracked the Top 20, taming the 5K course at Willamette Mission State Park in 22:44.
Those three also led the way at the Molalla Invitational on Sept. 17. Sara Reaser raced to her best time of the season, running 21:16 to finish 13th in a field of 95 runners. Daskalakis finished 37th with a time of 23:01 and Amanda Reaser was close behind in 39th with a time of 23:04.
Both Reaser sisters currently own times that rank in the Top 30 in the state at the 4A level. Sara Reaser's time of 21:16 from the Molalla meet is the 20th best in the state so far this year, while Amanda Reaser's 21:41 from the North Marion meet ranks 29th.
The Lady Braves have two more invitationals left on the schedule - Oct. 6 at the St. Helens Relays, and Oct. 8 at the Paul Mariman Invitational in Philomath.
