The Corbett girls soccer team dominated action in its league opener Tuesday afternoon against Umatilla, riding a pair of second-half goals to a 3-1 victory.

Deadlocked 1-1 at halftime, a flash storm came over the field during the break, dumping buckets on the ground and leaving a soggy field behind.

'The girls love the rain,' Corbett coach Brie Windust said. 'When you're from Corbett you root for those kind of things.'

Corbett's fortunes turned sunny over the final 40 minutes, as they kept the ball in the Vikings half constantly. After several near-misses to start the half, Simone Ballard gathered a rebound and beat the keeper with a shot into the side of the net for the game-winner in the 48th minute...
