Times are tough, just ask any local shop owner. I think it is fair to say that the whole Madras business community is having a difficult time making ends meet, especially since Sept. 11! But that doesn't mean they're not trying ... longer store hours, lower prices, bigger smiles are all part of the plan to keep people shopping local.
There is a large number of service clubs that depend on local merchants to participate in such things as Kiwanis soccer, depend on local merchants to participate in such things as Kiwanis soccer, Little League baseball, Rotary banquets, Collage of Culture, Boys and Girls Club, you get the point. The list is almost endless.. Hatfield's, Hometown Drug, Satterlee's, Ace Hardware, Madras Builders, Radio Shack, Computer Concepts, the automotive industry from parts to new cars, Snap Shots, and, again, the list goes on and on. All are willing to be apart of the many activities that make Madras special?
The more we help by shopping local, the more the business community can extend a hand. Basic economics -- it's as simple as that.
