   The Jefferson County Library has scheduled several activities for children during winter break:
   Dec. 21 - At the 10:30 a.m. Storytime, kids will read books about winter, then create a snowy landscape during craft time.
   Dec. 22 - At 10:30 a.m., the Storytime will feature Christmas stories and ornament-making. Elementary children just wanting to do the ornaments can come from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
   At 1 p.m., "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," will be performed by michael McGinnis. Children are invited to stay afterwards to make reindeer ornaments.
   Dec. 28 - Get a start on your thank-you letters at 10:30 a.m. Storytime. After hearing stories about letters, kids will decorate a blank card adn envelope with ink stamps.
   Dec. 29 - Get ready for New Year's Eve at 10:30 a.m. Storytime. After reading related books, kids will make a party favor.
   Jan. 2 - Join the fiesta at 1 p.m.! The regular Spanish Storytime will be expanded into a party with stories, games and refreshments geared towards Spanish-speaking kids.

   ODOT TOYS
   During this holiday season Oregon Department of Transportation maintenance crews in Central Oregon are giving back to their communities.
   Region 4 crews are providing at lease 65 toy Tonka trucks as Christmas gifts for underprivileged children during their Tonka's For Tots program.
   The trucks will be distributed to youngsters in Madras, Bend, Prineville, Sisters, and Silver Lake.
