Two Chevies, VW bus take OC Downtown Car Show awards

A pair of Chevies, a 1956 and a 1957, along with a 1965 VW bus, took top honors Sept. 17 at the second-annual Oregon City Downtown Car Show.

Best of Show went to Rick Skogmo for his 1956 Chevy and was presented by Andy Busch of Tom Busch Home Furnishings. Co-sponsor was Columbia Insurance (Cy Beko).

Most Viewed Award went to Tom Shields for his 1965 VW 21-window Samba bus. That award was presented by John Wilson, representing the media sponsor, Oregon City News.

The Sponsor's Choice Award went to Gary Kohler for his 1957 Chevy and was presented by Andy Busch. Co-sponsor was Tom Busch Home Furnishings.

This year's show stretched from 6th to 10th streets and along the side streets.

'The Downtown Car Show is a fun time for drivers, car buffs and families looking to enjoy one last sunny summer day,' said event organizer Mike Sims, vice president of the Trick 'n' Racy Car Club.

The Cruise to Downtown and Car Show is produced by the nonprofit Main Street Oregon City, the Downtown Business Coalition and the Trick 'n' Racy Car Club with support from an OCCIT grant.
