Little League registration at hand

Madras, Metolius and Warm Springs area prospects wanting to play in this spring and summer's Little League softball and baseball leagues need to find their birth certificate and other paperwork. Registration is just days away.
Culver area players already registered, on Feb. 13.
There will be one registration session on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jefferson County Middle School. Another is slated for Feb. 28, next Thursday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Those who can't make it to either of those registration dates can register -- with their parents -- at the Cascade Sports Authority store in the Palisades Shopping Center.
Fees are $30 a player for Tee-Ball, $35 per player for Rookie division and $40 a player in the Minor and Majors divisions. Tee-Ball is designed for pre-schoolers and first-graders with the respectively listed divisions each for older players than the previous division.
For teens in the Junior and Senior divisions of the Little League organization's structure the fee is $45 per player. The maximum charge per family for multiple children is $90. Anyone signing up after March 1 will be subject to a $5 penalty fee.
New players must provide a birth certificate or proof of birthdate but those with prior experience in Madras Little League will only need proof if notified.
A nationally-publicized fiasco over Danny Almonte, whose birth date and place of residence were falsified by officials with the Brooklyn, New York, league he represented, may mean residency proof will also be required of all children registering for Little League this year.
