Car stolen at knifepoint recovered

Suspect remains at large

West Linn police say the car that was stolen by knifepoint on Wednesday was recovered Thursday morning.

The white 1995 Mercedes Benz C-280 sedan was found in the 3500 block of Oak Grove Boulevard in Milwaukie. The car was found by a citizen who called the Clackamas County Dispatch Center after seeing news reports about the case.

At 9:09 a.m. Wednesday, Manuel Vallejo DeJesus reported that his car was stolen from the Albertson's parking lot by a man with a knife. DeJesus was not injured.

According to police, DeJesus was working in the store and went outside on a break. He drove his car to the loading dock area behind the store and was approached by a white man, about 30 years old, with a slender to average build, short light-brown hair and a full beard. He was wearing a black trench coat.

The suspect approached the car and asked DeJesus for a cigarette. DeJesus did not give him one. According to the report, the subject then came back a few minutes later and asked for DeJesus' identification, pretending he was a police officer. The victim refused. The suspect then opened the car door and held a knife to the victim, ordering him from the car.

The suspect remains at large and the West Linn Police Department is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 503-655-6214, or send a text message to 2734637 with the keyword 'WLPD' as the first word in the message.
