Punt return leads to landslide
MHC FOOTBALL - Gophers put up 22 points in third quarter to beat Reynolds 63-40
The biggest play of the night almost didn't happen.
It was the opening drive of the second half, and Reynolds found itself facing 4th-and-1 near midfield. The Raiders kept their offense on the field, and Gresham responded by crowding its side of the line with a crowd of blue jerseys.
A penalty flag killed the play before it could even get started, marching the Raiders back five yards. Now 4th-and-6, Reynolds came out in a punting formation. Gresham wasn't buying it. They kept all 11 defenders in tight to guard against an expected fake.
Another penalty made it 4th-and-11, and Gresham coach Todd Nagel relented in the obvious kicking situation.
