Dessert With The Arts
Event raises funds for gallery, scholarships
The chance to sample decadent desserts, sip wine, and bid on a piece of fine art drew a crowd to Art Adventure Gallery last Thursday, and raised $990 for Jefferson County Arts Association activities and scholarships.
Some 21 art pieces were sold at very reasonable prices through a silent auction, including paintings by Clyde Keller, Susanna Santos, Joanne Donaca, Margie Rollins, Wilma Brownlee, Jeanie Smith, Jim Staples, and Jim Smith. Other items were a juniper wood clock crafted by Ted Freeman, and pottery bowls made by Diane Ramsey, Linda Gilmore and Karen French.
Sue Sullivan was drawn as the raffle winner of a framed set of six watercolors by Geneva Wright depicting historic Madras buildings.
At the gathering, people enjoyed visiting with some of the artists and former gallery director Camille Green, while sipping Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc wines and listening to saxophone music by Lloyd Cunningham.
The event was called Dessert With The Arts, and nobody was shy about tasting the many dessert offerings prepared by Arts Association board members. Board member Brenda Curnutt and gallery director Coralee Popp agreed to share their dessert recipes:
