Madras resident Peggy June Broyles died March 22, 2003, at the age of 63.
Mrs. Broyles was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Twinbridges, Mont., to parents Edward and Carrie (Tayer) Smith. She moved to Oregon as a small child, and grew up in The Dalles. On May 30, 1979, she married James Broyles.
She had recently relocated to Madras from Pensacola, Fla. She was a homemaker most of her life, and did work as a secretary for the Baptist Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, James Broyles; one brother; one sister; five sons; three daughters; 16 grandchildren; and one-great-grandchild.
At her request, no formal services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home of Madras
Rosalie Jean Kinonen
Madras resident Rosalie Jean Kinonen died March 25, 2003, at the age of 73.
Mrs. Kinonen was born April 4, 1929, in Portland to parents Allen and Leona (Merle) White. She was raised in Portland and graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School there.
She married Ebner E. Kinonen on Jan. 21, 1967, in Portland. The moved to the Seattle area, then to Huntsville, Ala., Redmond, Wash., and then to Madras 12 years ago.
She worked in food service, was a great baker and gardener, and an expert seamstress. She made and sold shirts and polar fleece jackets.
Survivors include her husband, Ebner Kinonen of Madras; son. Gerald Hanley of Fall City, Wash; daughters, Julie Hession of Tigard, Debra Tolva of Seaview, Wash., and Kathleen Taylor of Portland; brothers, Robert White of Palm Desert, Calif., and Vernon White of Portland; and sister, Dorothy Paris of Lake Oswego; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lindy Jean Kinonen.
No funeral services were held.. Arrangements were under the direction of Autumn Funerals of Redmond.
