>Basketball traveling teams forming
Girls interested in playing on girls basketball traveling teams in two divisions -- for fifth- and sixth-graders plus seventh- and eighth-graders -- are invited to attend Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday practices that will begin next week, on April 8. The practices will be held at the Madras High gym and last from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Teams are going to be formed through the tryouts that are being conducted by the staff from Madras High's Oregon 3A state champions. Coaches will be contacting those girls they see as ready to take on the responsibility of being at practice, showing accountability, skill, an ability to learn, a good attitude and willingness to be coached.
Fundamental skills, shooting form, basic drills, conditioning and the offensive and defensive philosophies of the Lady White Buffalos will also be taught. There will be fees to enter tournaments along with lodging and meals that will need to be covered by families of those selected.
