Man faces additional sexual abuse charges
April 2, 2003 — A Madras man accused of sexually abusing girls at a local residential day care has been indicted on 10 new charges by a grand jury.
Cody Dalton, 18, now faces 13 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree rape. Each felony falls under Measure 11 guidelines, meaning Dalton could face more than 89 years in prison if he's convicted on all charges and their punishment is served consecutively.
Dalton was arrested Jan. 6 and originally arraigned on just four counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
According to the March 26 indictment, he allegedly abused four children below the age of 7, some possibly younger than 3 years old.
The incidents allegedly occurred at Tina's Family Style Child Care, located at 475 S.W. 2nd St., where Dalton lives, between October 2002 and January 2003. The private day care provider has since closed.
Dalton remains lodged in Jefferson County Jail on $200,000 bail. His next court date is scheduled for 9 a.m. on April 14.
