   Lance Corporal Sunshine “Suni” N. Yubeta, 21, is a member of the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in Iraq.
    A 2000 graduate of Madras High School, he joined the Marine Corps in January 2001. He trained at Camp Pendleton to be a part of the Marine Expeditionary Unit, an intervention force that moves quickly on short notice where ever needed for conventional or special operations.
    Last summer he left on a six month deployment to Kuwait and returned at Christmas, just in time to be send back Jan. 17, to Kuwait. He is now actively serving in Iraq.
    Yubeta is the son of Nancy Saludo of Madras and William Winter Hawk of Warm Springs. He has a 5-year-old son DeVon, sister, Shekinah, brother, Chris, and sister-in-law Michelle Holliday. His relatives in the Madras and Warm Springs communities are all exceptionally proud of him, and send him their support, appreciation and prayers.
    “We miss his sense of humor and his storytelling of his adventures. He’s gone distances farther than we’ll ever go in our lifetimes,” his mother said, expressing her prayers for her son and all the men and women in the military.
