sp; April 23, 2003 — The City of Madras will hold a Town Hall meeting on the local economy on Wednesday, April 30, at Jefferson County Senior Center. A Mayor’s Round Table discussion will run from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the Town Hall meeting from 7 to 9 p.m.
City council members want to hear from citizens about what they see as positive and negative barriers to expanding the local economy. This will be a chance to visit directly with Madras City Council members and senior staff members.
Roger Lee, executive director of Economic Development in Central Oregon, will facilitate the discussion. He will give a brief overview of the local economy and what has driven it in the past, as well as what drives it today. Trends on wages, employment and market conditions that effect the economy will be covered.
