Dwy leading motorcycle series
Cliff Dwy, operator of Cliff's Auto Repair in Madras, started his motorcycle racing season with even more of a bang than he closed last year's.
Racing in Phoenix, Ariz., in early April, Dwy assumed the national series points lead in the Pro Modified division of the All Harley Drag Racing Association, sponsored by Joker Machine.
After a second-place finish in the national standings last year, Dwy is out to do even better this year.
He will be back to one of closing locations of his 2002 travels when he takes Sasquatch (his motorcycle) to a national event in Las Vegas, Nev., in May.
In the semi-final round of the Phoenix Pro Modified event the results showed:
Cliff Dwy 087 8.458 153.75**
Bruce Long .028 8.986 146.05 and
Darren Mauldin .080 8.444 154.97**
Junior Pippin .082 8.582 151.82.
Those results set up a showdown between Mauldin and Dwy.
Dwy executed his run in 8.42 seconds with a reaction time of .058 which resulted in a speed of 153.7 miles per hour.
Those postings let Dwy nip Mauldin, whose 153.54 mph run was recorded on the strength of a .041 reaction time and run time of 8.549 seconds.
