> Desert Peaks Golf Club in Madras, the nine-hole, par-36 owned by the city, is hosting a Chapman format event called Duffers and Dolls this weekend.
Called The Links at Madras last summer, the course will be busy June 7 and 8. Shotgun starts will commence play both days, at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
A $100 fee per couple will be charged. A Friday practice round and the two tournament rounds are included. Coffee and doughnuts plus lunch are also provided. Participants are also invited to a Saturday dinner at the Elks.
Competition of Saturday will be decided via best ball. Teams playing in a Sunday Calcutta will pay $20 more.

The course can be reached by turning west on C street and heading west and north up Willow Creek canyon. The street, labeled Glass at that point, continues through a stop sign and north past the Madras Dragstrip before turning toward the course. Those entering Madras from Warm Springs on Highway 26 can follow signs for the course.
