Top spellers compete for state slot

> The County level contest for the State Spelling competition was held at the Jefferson County Education Service District May 19.
Winners included the following:
Division I, grades 1 through 5:
First place winner - Teresa Fuentes of Jefferson County Middle School.
Second place winner - Bella Gonzalez of Metolius Elementary.
Honorable Mentions - Dalen Shaw of Madras Elementary, Nick Kyar of Westside Elementary, and Mickale Hartley of Ashwood School District.
Division II, grades 6 through 8:
First place winner - Kenny Ocker of Jefferson County Middle School.
Second place winner - Kayla Hartley of Ashwood School District.
Division III, grades 9 through 12:
First place winner - Holly Abbe of Madras High School.
Second place winner - Stephanie Briggs of Culver High School.
