Memorials abound for fallen Cornelius Navy hospitalman

Last week, Forest Grove Fire and Rescue's Engine 422 got a new name: 'Ryley.'
The new moniker comes as the latest tribute to Navy Hospitalman Ryley Gallinger-Long, who was killed in action in Afghanistan Aug. 11.
Gallinger-Long served as a cadet at the fire department and was well known around the station.
Gallinger-Long's friend, Cody Brown, unveiled the name in a brief ceremony last Tuesday.
'We picked that one in particular because that was the engine part of the procession that brought him home,' said Dave Nemeyer, Forest Grove fire marshall.
But the new engine isn't the only memorial for Gallinger-Long.
In Cornelius, a memorial bench bearing Gallinger-Long's name has been ordered.
The bench will arrive in a little over a month and be installed at Arboretum City Park in Cornelius.
