Ellsbury hitting well in Alaska

Jacoby Ellsbury's escapades on the baseball diamond have taken a turn north.
Not only has the Oregon State outfielder, now between his freshman and sophomore years as a Beaver, kept his numbers headed upward during summer league play, he's doing so as a member of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the illustrious Alaska Baseball League.
Just a couple of the alumni from the Glacier Pilots are Mark McGwire and Aaron Boone of Major League fame.
Ellsbury was earning attention that could land him at the professional level too.
A spokesman updated the torrid .448 pace Ellsbury was listed as batting at after only eight games to note that Ellsbury was batting at a .455 average as of June 27. The older brother of Matt, Tyler and Spencer Ellsbury had also played six games in the Anchorage outfield, without making an error.
