"We just didn't want to let it die," said Vicki McElvy, who is serving as a leader of the crew putting on races at the eighth-mile track.
Regulars have nothing but raves in describing how well the improvements made by different volunteer groups have worked.
There have been improvements to the start area, along with electral updates to have accurate timing approved by the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association).
There was no racing over the July 4th weekend but the track returns to action this weekend, for events on July 12 and 13.
