Madras Garden Club members were busy the morning of June 24, beginning a new Jefferson County Memorial Rose Garden at the county fairgrounds.
According to garden club member Alice Satterlee, people will be able to purchase a rose bush and memorial plaque with their relative's name on it for $35.
Garden club members will install the rose and plaque and maintain the garden. Interested persons can order a memorial rose by calling 475-8530 or 475-5090.
Ten rose bushes, which had already been donated, were planted Tuesday in the large garden located just to the east of the main fairgrounds entry. Satterlee estimated the garden would be able to hold a total of 55 to 60 rose bushes.
