Gill returns as news editor
After 18 years, Holly Gill has re-joined the staff at the Madras Pioneer as News Editor.
Gill worked at the Pioneer from 1979 to 1985, an era when Rajneeshpuram kept Jefferson County news anything but sleepy. She left the paper to raise a family. In 1995 she started teaching in the 509-J School District as a substitute and also spent one year as a part-time French teacher. She worked substitute teaching through last year.
In many ways, noted Gill, the job as the Pioneer lead news reporter, and the Jefferson County community, haven't changed much. However, between stints the computer age has revolutionized many aspects of newspaper operation and production. Learning those techniques, Gill noted, will be one of her most exciting challenges.
"Holly knows the community very well, and she's driven to do an excellent job," said Tony Ahern, Pioneer publisher. "She hits the ground running. We're looking forward to Holly being a great addition to the Pioneer."
Gill and her husband, Bob, have four children: Chase, Carter, Kelsey and Turner.
