The wedding of Christa Renee Arends and Mohandas Martin Koehler was celebrated on Aug. 6 at 5 p.m. in a single-ring ceremony at Scholls Valley Lodge at the Vial Farm in Hillsboro. Wedding officiant was Will Rehse, a childhood friend of the bride and groom.
The bride wore a strapless dress with sweetheart neckline and lace and bead overlay in ivory satin. Her flowers were a mix of deep purple and red sweet peas and dahlias. Her heirloom was her mother's necklace.
Maid of honor was the bride's sister, Diana Arends. The bride's attendants were Hayley Fortner, Kiza Miller, Anneliese Koehler and Kate Koehler.
Jeremy Cushman, the groom's best friend, was best man.
The groom's attendants and ushers were Matthew Koehler, Damien Koehler, Willy Koehler and Richard Koehler.
The bride, the daughter of Phillip and Sharon Arends, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 2006 and from Oregon State University in 2010.
The groom, the son of Kurt and Mary Koehler, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 2006 and from the University of Oregon in 2010.
Arends is employed as a library clerk, and Koehler is a finance analyst.
Honored guests attending the wedding included the bride's grandmothers Carol Arends of Tigard and Dorothy Holmes of Canby; the bride's great-uncle Donald Bender of Huntington Beach, Calif., and the groom's grandfather Peter Koehler of Portland.
A wedding reception took place in the Scholls Valley Lodge.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Huntington Beach in California before returning to their home in Hillsboro.
